Olbia is the ideal center from which to visit every day a corner of the Costa Smeralda and bring with you fantastic memories of this paradise.
The Hotel Centrale is in the centre of the Historical centre of Olbia, it is the ideal starting point for a relaxing walk along Corso Umberto I, to visit the Medieval Basilica of San Simplicio, the Archaeological Museum but also to reach the beautiful beaches of the surroundings.

Together with our partners you can organize wonderful boat trips to the Archipelago of La Maddalena or to Tavolara and Molara. You can visit the beautiful beaches of Capriccioli, Porto Istana or Cala Brandinchi or immerse yourself in the wild nature of the interior with the nuraghe of Tempio Pausania or the ancient olive trees of Luras or even discover the flavors of our land with delicious tastings directly in the local wineries.

In short, you just have to book many small holidays in one, of course (and we will be ready to give you all the support you need) at the Hotel Centrale.

Costa Smeralda

Exclusive location that is famous throughout the world, especially for its nightlife and truly great shops and clubs. The sea is marvellous in this part of Sardinia. Moreover, the particular modern architecture of the houses and the wild vegetation that surrounds are perfectly harmonious. The granite here is also central to the construction of the buildings, making the whole area a homogeneous picture that is particularly interesting to see and visit.

The beaches of this area deserve a separate discussion. You mustn’t miss out on the Liscia Ruja, Piccolo Pevero, Capriccioli, Romazzino, Rena Bianca and many others. The Costa Smeralda takes its name from the colour of its waters: if you love diving or enjoy snorkelling or just relaxing on the beach, you must spend a day doing at least a couple of these activities.

Olbia

Enjoy a stroll through the historic centre, right outside the hotel. Starting from Corso Umberto you will discover pretty views, squares that are rich in history, liberty style churches and buildings and much more. Corso Umberto is also the shopping street, with many shops, restaurants and bars for a refreshing break. We recommend you go as far as the Brin Pier and also visit the Basilica of San Simplicio, with its Necropolis.

Just outside Olbia you can discover archaeological sites such as the Sa Testa sacred well, the Nuraghe Riu Mulinu, the Roman Aqueduct and the Castle of Pedres: retrace the history of this city.

Beaches

You’ve come to an area of Sardinia with wonderful beaches: you will have an unforgettable holiday. Travellers have many favourites, but we recommend you visit these at least: Porto Istana , with its very fine and very light sand and shallow water, is great for children and for services. Pittulongu and Rena Bianca , a few kilometres from Olbia, are beaches of unquestionable beauty and are also particularly suitable for those travelling with children.

For those who love surfing and diving, Li Concheddi and Punta Volpe are the ideal destination: ochre sand, granite rocks and winds that create the right waves closer to shore, leaving calm depths to explore further out.

Of course, these are just a few suggestions: northern Sardinia is full of beaches and coves to discover by boat or raft as well as by swimming or canoeing. Wild backdrops that are rich in Mediterranean vegetation frame very white beaches and waters of astonishing and glorious shades of blue.

The beaches of Pittulongu, Bados and Porto Istana can be reached by city buses, which stop just a few steps from the hotel.

Excursions

You can complete a holiday in Olbia by exploring the coast by boat, with a trip to the Island of Tavolara and other beaches which can only be reached only by dinghy. From the hotel you can book fantastic boat trips in the archipelago of La Maddalena with the convenient pick up directly at the hotel or by making an appointment at the port for those who have their own vehicle. It is also possible to organize personalized excursions through our partners also by renting a boat, scooter or bicycle (including electric).

Alternatively, there are several nature and trekking trails. For example, you can choose a shore route like the one from Porto Istana to Porto San Paolo, walking all the way along the coastal stretch of Sa Ribba Ruia. Almost 4 km long, it is of low difficulty so suitable for everyone. A route of medium difficulty starts from San Pantaleo and reaches the beaches of Razza di Juncu and Rena Bianca, in total about 4km. You walk on an old mule track, which can also be ridden by bicycle.

Lastly, a path for the fittest is the one that runs along the side of the Monte Piebi, from the church of San Vittore, ending at the Punta de su Quadreddu. A very scenic route, 2.80 km in length but with significant height differences.
